DIS has opened a new department in Esbjerg and thereby moves closer to the customers in Southern Jutland
DIS has a goal to be locally represented in order to, among others, show greater flexibility towards our customers. DIS has hired Kore Berg as the Head of Department of the new Esbjerg-office, who has many years of experience within development and project management. Kore has an educational background as a mechanical engineer and has worked as a Managing Director at HM Labelling, Executive Project Manager at KJ Industries and as a consultant at LM Wind Power.
Two students from Aarhus School of Engineering have recently been awarded with the DIS-prize on 25.000 Dkr. for their final project
Jesper W. Kristoffersen and David B. Madsen have developed a pump for industrial refrigeration- and freezer facilities that can reduce energy consumption in cooling. The pump can be integrated into most existing systems.
"The principle is very simple. The pump ensures that there is always more fluid in the system than what can evaporate. It improves the refrigeration system performance and the energy consumption will therefore be lower, "says Jesper W. Kristoffersen.
Today, cooling is one of society's biggest energy sinners. In an ordinary Danish supermarket, one third of the power consumption is for refrigeration of food and at a slaughterhouse, it is up to 90 percent. A complete pump can provide energy savings of up to 20 percent, and the panel of judges were not in doubt about the potential of the project. "We have worked intensively on this project and we are very proud to receive the prize," says Jesper W. Kristoffersen.
Jeppe Langhoff Sørensen and Lasse Haugsted Rasmussen from Aarhus School of Engineering have recently been awarded with the DIS-prize on 25.000 Dkr. for their final project.
The two students have developed an intelligent door opener for senior houses, which can recognize the home carer’s face. Technically, the project consist of a camera which films the home carer’s face and sends the pictures to a computer. The door to the senior house will open when the home carer’s face and mobile phone is recognized by the computer. The project will thereby increase the elders’ sense of security and ease the home carer’s work.
Michael Gadeberg, the chairman of the panel of judges, explains why the project was awarded with the prize:
“The two students have developed a technological solution based on an actual need. The project is thoroughly thought out, innovative and useful in practice. The students have an impressive way of communicating the project in a way that is easy to understand, which is necessary in order to “sell” the project to investors,” Michael Gadeberg explains.
DIS invited employees and customers to the annual Sportscar Event at FDM Jyllandsringen for the benefit of the charity organization, Børnecancerfonden – an organization helping children suffering from cancer.
In January, Søren Bunk celebrated his 10 year anniversary at DIS. Søren was employed in January 2000 after finishing his education as a mechanical engineer from Aarhus School of Engineering. After a number of years as a project engineer and project manager Søren became partner and co-owner of DIS in 2005.
Friday November 20, 2009 DIS was awarded with the initiative award from Dansk Industry in eastern Jutland. The award was presented by DI’s vice chairman Gunnar Thykjær at a meeting Friday morning in front of most of DIS’ employees.
Gunnar Thykjær states why DIS was selected to receive the award: “the need to shorten the time-to-market is very relevant at the moment. This can be achieved by the use of DIS’ innovative solutions. This year, DIS has managed to grow, despite of the financial crisis, but has also helped some customers find the right growth path. It is impressive and I am happy to reward this achievement today.”
Gunner Thykjær furthermore states that DIS rewards engineering students at Aarhus School of Engineering with a semiannual prize of 25.000 Dkr. The DIS-prize is presented to a final project, which mange to translate theory into something practical.
The award consists of a diploma and a glass bowl by the local artist Tobias Møhl.

The two students from Aarhus School of Engineering, Önundur Jónasson og Jesper Lønne, have recently been awarded this semester’s DIS-prize on 25.000 Dkr. The judges were not in doubt that the bachelor project deserved to win the price. The project consists of a small plastic ring, which is to improve the lives of people with heart diseases. The ring is made in a material with a very long lifespan, why patients with cardiac valve problems do not have to undergo surgery as often. The ring is tested on pig hearts at the University hospital in Aarhus and the project can therefore become a reality. DIS has moved into new offices in Skovlunde, near Copenhagen. The move has caused for a very innovative plan arrangement.
We solve a lot of innovation projects for our customers where we design new products, upgrade existing products or carryout cost optimisation. We have thus designed a special innovation centre in the new offices, which can be used by our customers as well as ourselves.
The opening reception for customers and other business relations was held April 30, 2009.
DIS has, in many years, developed our customers’ products and machines. We have therefore experience, references, processes and a wide professional knowledge, which contributes to DIS’ success. Now, the surroundings have been optimised to match this innovative environment, as we have just opened out new innovation centre, DIScover.
DIS has, throughout the years, performed Cost Drive on a large number of products, and has thus attained experience with new and existing products. The six stages in the Cost Drive process create transparency, predictability and visible progress.

75 engineering students visited DIS in October. The event started at DIS’ offices in Hasselager, where the students were welcomed by the CEOs, Michael Gadeberg and Søren Bunk. A tour in DIS’ modern installation- and test facilities gave the students insight into some of the projects, which are currently being solved at DIS. Afterwards; the students were invited to Europe’s largest race track, where DIS’ Magnus Christensen was the winner of the race.
Michael Gadeberg has been nominated for the title as “Young Executive of the Year” in the Junior Chamber Århus. The criteria for the nomination are to be successful, personally engaged, responsible, collaborative, stimulating and a ‘complete’ individual.
